Anti-Spyware
Survival Guide
How does anti-spyware
work?
.:Back To Spyware Removal:.
Anti-spyware software works by identifying the spyware,
malware, and Trojans based on previous installations. Remember spyware
is installed like any other application and so has an installation “signature”.
A signature is comprised of entries into the Windows Registry that
are changed and the files that are created on your hard drive. Anti-spyware
software looks for the evidence of these files and, if found, removes
them…thus removing the spyware.
The most challenging area of
removing spyware is the number of variants. Similar to real-world viruses,
spyware can have “strains” or variations of the same “parent” spyware.
This makes removal, sometimes difficult to accomplish.
 Freeware programs
such as Adware SE and Microsoft’s Antispyware are good starts
to fighting this battle but remember, you get what you pay for and
most “FREEWARE” is limited in it’s functionality.
Therefore, you may want to think about purchasing a program such as
McAfee AntiSpyware that will afford you a bit more protection. I would
suggest that you run more than one at a time and scan your computer
daily…especially if you surf the web as much as I do!
