Anti-Spyware
Survival Guide
What is Anti-Spyware
Software?
.:Back To Spyware Removal:.
Anti-spyware software aids in the removal of spyware from your personal
computer. Spyware is the term given to tiny programs or software that “spies
on” or sends information back to the owner of the spyware about
your web browsing habits, usually for marketing purposes. Spyware is
transported through another program such as freeware found in such
software as Kazaa, which allows you to share all types of files between
users all over the world. It has spyware built into it to track your
surfing habits.
What is the justification for spyware by their suppliers?
Well, many publishers feel that since they are giving away “free” software,
they deserve to make money off of you by violating your privacy and
tracking your surfing habits in order to marketing companies. Their
reasoning is valid in that they should be compensated in some way for
providing a great piece of software for free, but the problem is that
they don’t tell the user (you) up front about the spyware. They
usually hide it in the privacy policy or user agreement, which the
majority of surfers don’t read, and to make matters worse, furthermore
making it incomprehensible by writing it in legal terms that the lay
person doesn’t understand.
Spyware has taken a more despicable
turn by being installed without the user receiving any free software.
What am I talking about? Spyware
such as Comet Cursor, lop, IST.ISTbar Browser Modifier, and others
are installed automatically via popup windows or by just going to
a site.
So, now that you understand what spyware is, it is time for
you to take action and get rid of those nasty little programs that
slow
your
system and give away your information. Programs such as McAfee AntiSpyware are
one of many great programs on the market to aid you in this battle.
There are also a number of free programs available but are not as powerful
as those you actually pay for…”GO FIGURE!”
