WHAT TO DO IF YOUR DATA IS LOST?
NOTE: IF YOU THINK
YOU HAVE EXPERIENCED DATA LOSS OF IMPORTANT FILES, BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU
DO! Sometimes data loss is caused by simple things such as loose wires or
file deletion. Note any efforts you take carefully. Try to recall and
document what happened just before the data loss…events such as
software installation, sudden loss of power l, peripheral or external
device installation, system upgrade, and so forth. These details can
be very helpful for Speedy PC’s data recovery
process.
You can make
the problem considerably worse and lose more data if you make changes
to the media in any way. Don't be tempted to open a hard
disk drive "to see what's wrong". The smallest spec of dust
could render the drive useless and destroy valuable data. Hard disk drives
should be opened for repair only in a dust free class 100 or better clean
room environment (Speedy PC Solutions, at present, does not offer such
a recovery process).
If you have a disk that is making scraping, grinding
or clicking noises turn off the computer immediately and leave it off.
Those sounds could
be indicative of your disk platters being damaged. The longer the platters
are exposed to abuse the less likely the data will be recovered, every
second counts. Pack up the disk carefully (as though it was a dozen
eggs) and send the drive to Speedy PC Solutions, or another reputable
data
recovery lab.
