WHY SHOULD YOU
CHOSE XP PROFESSIONAL?
.:Back To Products:.
Windows
XP Professional has many great features and the views in this article
are not necessarily the best features or those which you might
feel are more useful. The following reason to choose XP Professional
is just the tip of the iceberg but is certainly a great starting point.
- Access
Control – allows
you to restrict access to selected applications, files, and other various
resources
- Centralized Administration – make Windows XP Professional
part of a Windows server domain and take advantage of the fantastic
array
of powerful security and management tools
- Dramatically reduced reboot
scenarios – Eliminates the majority
of circumstances that force end users to reboot in all other versions
of Windows. Also, many software installations will not require reboots.
- Enhanced
File System – feature protects sensitive data which
is stored on the NTFS (New Technology File System) file systems.
- Group
Policy – feature simplified the administrative functions
of groups or computers and users
- Multilingual User Interface (MUI)
- The local user can then select the user interface language, or
the administrator can set it through
a Group Policy.
- Offline Files and Folders – allows access to
folders and files on a network when disconnected from the server
- Remote
Desktop – remotely access your Windows XP Professional
computer from another Windows PC which will allow you to work with
all your files and data when you are away from your office
- Remote
Installation Service (RIS) – supports remote installation
of operating systems where personal computers can be installed across
the network
- Software Installation and Maintenance – automatically
install, repair, maintain, remove, and otherwise control software
applications
- Windows File Protection – Protects core files from
being overwritten by application installations. By preserving system
files, Windows
XP Professional alleviates many of the most common system failures
encountered
in earlier versions of Windows.
- Windows Firewall and Exception List –Built-in
Windows Firewall helps increase computer security from startup to
shutdown. Helps
administrators better manage applications and static port exceptions
by allowing only
ports needed by an application to be open.
This is only a small amount
of features that I feel are important to the end-user when making a
decision to purchase Windows XP Professional
over XP Home. For more benefits and features, go to the Microsoft
Windows XP Professional Features site at Microsoft’s website.
